EFT International (EFTi) Certification

Everything You Need

to Complete EFT International Level 2 Certification

For your convenience, the steps to Certification are listed below.  And if you keep scrolling down this page, you will find all the documents that support you in the process.

 1. WORKSHOP:

Attend an EFT International Level 1 & 2 workshop (or Levels 1 and 2 taught separately) presented by an EFTi Trainer and receive your Certificate of Attendance. These are now offered either live or on-line.

 2. MULTIPLE-CHOICE TEST:

Pass the EFTi Level 2 multiple-choice exam.  On-line at the EFT International website.

Please note: if you are not already a Student Member of EFT International, there will be a delay because your membership must be processed before you can get the exam. So please do sign up for a student membership as soon as you begin the certification process. Here’s the link: https://efttinternational.org/membership-information/membership-join/

My Level 1-2 Manual is a great way to review since everything is fully covered in the modules. I also send out the Self-Assessment Checklists for Levels 1 and 2. Finally, I also have a brief Review Sheet that may be helpful.

When you are ready to take the test, you will find it on the EFTi website, eftinternational.org. You need to LOG IN, then go to the Members Area > Upgrade and Exams. The Members Area only appears on the menu when you are logged in as a member – you must begin by joining as a Student Member, which will give you a login.

 3. EFTi ETHICS CODE:

Read and sign the EFT International Code of Conduct and Ethics. It is available on this webpage.

For the PDF copy, click here:

EFT International Code of Conduct and Ethics

Printing it out and signing it for your own records is a good idea. Or you can just read it and save a copy to your computer for future reference. “Signing” simply means that you have agreed to it as an EFT International Practitioner.

 4. MENTORING/PRACTICE PROGRAM:

If you are taking the EFM program, you have become a Level 2 Practitioner Candidate with me as your mentor. It is still good at some point to determine a timetable for your certification and talk it over with me. Certification is a process and taking 9-12 months to complete the requirements is usually good so that you have the time to develop as a practitioner. (If you’re not in the EFM program, let’s talk and determine how you would like to get your mentoring and certification support.)

5. MENTORING:

The requirement is to complete a minimum of 6 mentoring hours. This can be through individual mentoring or through group mentoring in an on-going group of 8 or less. Our EFM program gives you excellent mentoring support. With two 90-min. group calls a month over six months, you will have around 18 hours — plus individual hours as well. (Those who take my EFM program individually, not part of a group, will have at least 6 individual hours.) Then everyone gets 3-4 hours additional individual mentoring to go over their Case Studies.

Please note: The mentoring relationship is an extremely important part of becoming an EFT International Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner. EFT International entrusts each trainer with the responsibility to know our trainees and vouch for their EFT skills and mastery. So the mentoring is not only to help you develop as a practitioner. It is also for me, your trainer, to get to know you and know your EFT competence. This is one thing I love about EFT International — our organization really emphasizes personal connections, support, and community.

 6. PRACTICING EFT:

50 hours of practice is the general requirement. It is preferable to work with a variety of issues, so a guideline is to work with 25 different individuals. However, we have some discretion with this and in some cases, more sessions with fewer individuals is fine. Just discuss it with me. Also, a session must be a minimum of 45 minutes to count as a practice session. Generally “50 hours / 50 sessions” is the rule of thumb.

Receiving on-going mentoring while doing practice sessions.

Please be aware that it is important to have on-going mentoring as you engage in practice sessions. It is not recommended for practitioner candidates to go off and do their practice sessions completely on their own. You are meant to touch base with your mentor frequently — in our EFM program, we do that through our twice-monthly calls.

Keeping a log of your practice sessions

For certification, you must keep a log of your practice sessions and a brief description of what was worked on. A sample log was included in the Documents in Module 1.  You will find that one plus another example in the Documents below (scroll down). You can print out and use any of these forms or feel free to make your own.

Integrating practice sessions and case studies

It works best to begin working on case studies as you are doing practice sessions. Once you submit a case study, you will get detailed feedback and can practice any “homework” in further practice sessions, then show your progress in one of your next case studies

  7. CASE STUDIES AND CASE STUDY REVIEW PROCESS:

For your convenience, all of the Case Study information is also on a special page with even more examples. Find it on the menu under Certification or click here: Guidelines for Case Studies

EFTi requires four Case Studies according to the EFTi guidelines plus possible additional demonstration of competencies per individual assessment by mentor. A recorded session (audio or video) is required as one of the case studies.

It is recommended that you get started with these early in the certification process. Once you submit one case study, I will review it carefully and provide feedback in our Case Study Review, and you can incorporate what you learn into your next case study. If any core skills seem to be missing or need more practice, you will have time to remedy the situation before your final case study. Here are three things to note:

  • Two Case Studies are detailed written reports of your work with a client.  Each should show your work with the client preferably over the course of several sessions with that person. Most people include two sessions: one session and the follow-up session after it. I hope it is clear that in these written reports, one Case Study is on one individual; the other on a different individual. The Guidelines documents provide a checklist of what to include and examples.
  • One Case Study is a detailed written personal report of how you’ve successfully used EFT for your own issue. This can involve one or more sessions.
  • Your fourth Case Study is a recorded session. If you have questions about how to record and how to get the recording to me, let’s talk — it’s quite simple but may be different for each person depending on the technology you use. (Most people prefer audio recording only, but video is an option too.) After you send me the recorded session, I go through it  and take notes; then we plan for about an hour by phone to discuss the session.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please notice the amount of detail in the example case studies. I would suggest that 10-15 double-spaced pages is a good guideline for each written case study. If your studies are not detailed and extensive enough, they will need to be re-done.

CASE STUDY GUIDELINES AND EXAMPLES:

Please consult the documents below that will help you know how to proceed.

EFTi/AAMET Case Study Guidelines 2016 – this brand new document extensively explains the case studies and includes full-length examples.

Betty’s Case Study Guidelines – these are consistent with the AAMET requirements and give you a briefer version as a framework for how to proceed

EFT Foundational Skills and Concepts Review Sheet – no one session will include everything! But this is a good review of all the skills you might use, material which is taught in Level 1-2.

Sample Case Study – This case was submitted by one of my students in 2015 and she generously agreed for us to use it as a sample, getting permission from her client. I didn’t have the guidelines as clearly stated at the time, but she still does a great job, especially with the level of detail. No case study is perfect and there were suggestions for improvement — but this is a great example of how specific to be in your write-up.
Please note: you will recognize this! I posted a major portion of this case study as a session example in Module 2.

For two more example Case Studies, → go to the Guidelines for Case Studies page.

 8. READING AND VIDEOS:

Each trainer determines required reading and videos. Required reading for Betty’s trainees:

  •  Genie in Your Genes – Dawson Church – I recommend purchasing the book. It refers to many concepts and studies and is an excellent reference
  •  The Neurochemistry of Counterconditioning – Acupressure Desensitization in Psychotherapy – James R. Lane, PhD. Download the Lane Article here (or find it in the Documents below).

Please choose three additional readings, audios, and videos at your choice:

  • The Biology of Belief  by Bruce Lipton, PhD
  •  The Promise of Energy Psychology: Revolutionary Tools for Dramatic Personal Change  by David Feinstein, Donna Eden, and Gary Craig
  • The EFT Manual  by Dawson Church
  • EFT Level 1 Comprehensive Training Resource by Ann Adams and Karin Davidson
  • EFT Level 2 Comprehensive Training Resource by Ann Adams and Karin Davidson
  •  The Tapping Solution  by Nick Ortner; also his Tapping Solution for Pain Relief
  • The Tapping Solution  – film by the Ortners
  • The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss  by Jessica Ortner
  • The annual Tapping Summit packages  with audios, transcripts and workbook so that you get EFT resources from a variety of presenters.
  •  Any of Alina Frank’s Tapping A-Z youtube videos (full sessions)
  •  Videos of well-known EFTers (Gwyneth Moss, Carol Look, Ann Adams, Craig Weiner etc.)

 9. ARRANGING FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE

Insurance coverage is a requirement for EFT International Practitioners. There are several low-cost options. I provide you this information in the Certification program in Module 1, and we can discuss the options in our mentoring as you get close to completion. Scroll down (or click here) to find information about how to obtain insurance for your EFT practice.

COMPLETION

When you and your mentor/trainer agree that you have completed all the requirements, your mentor contacts the AAMET to submit your name as an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner (Level 2). You will then receive an email inviting you to join the AAMET with Practitioner Status. AAMET sends you your practitioner certificate and you are now officially an AAMET Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Last But Not Least… Please review the EFT International’s Annual Requirements for Membership Renewal as a Practitioner

As an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner, you will need to complete two requirements each year to keep your membership and certification status up to date. The time frame is not the calendar year but the 12 months from your original certification date. This becomes your annual renewal date. Full information is on my main website here: Maintaining Your Certification

In  brief, the two requirements are these:

  • 6 hours mentoring – can be done in a group or individually with an EFTi Trainer/Supervisor
  • 30 hours CPD (Continuing Professional Development) – any way that you learn something relevant to your EFT practice can be counted: attending workshops or webinars, reading books, presenting an EFT introductory class, reading articles, writing articles, and much more.

Remember that you must join EFTi as a Student first. Only then you can register for the exam. It is best to join as a student well before you wish to take the exam because the required membership cannot usually be processed right away. Fees will be applied to your Practitioner upgrade once you have achieved certification.

Below are sources of liability insurance for EFT Practitioners (in the US). It is not necessary to have liability insurance for practice sessions, but it is required for EFTi certification.

HANDS-ON TRADE

Also, with Hands-On Trade, you can get insurance at the student rate of $75 prior to certification and stay on that rate for one full year — even if you upgrade to Certified status and coverage during that year, you don’t have to pay the full rate until the end of the 12 months.
