A Video from Betty:
How To Get A Domain Name – The first step in getting your own website (6:47)
If you click on the YouTube button at the bottom of the little screen below, you can watch the video on YouTube where you will be able to see the details. Even better, once you are on YouTube, click on the small rectangle you will see at the bottom right and watch in “Theater Mode” for the best resolution. (Full screen does not give the best resolution for these videos.)

Another video from Betty
About WordPress Websites – And Why They Are A Good Choice (14:30)
UPDATE: Although I highly recommend WordPress sites, another good option has come to my attention: website builders. I know some people have really enjoyed creating a website with Weebly. Other website builders are Wix, Squarespace, and Web.com. If you’re having any trouble knowing where to start, these are much simpler. You can still manage the content yourself — and with some you can even get started for free. I will be researching all of these and prepare another video to add to the one below to clarify for us the pros and cons of these different ways to get your own website — a very important step in getting out there.
Back to my video on WordPress, it shows some detailed work on-line, so the small screen here is not the best way to view it. Try the instructions below for viewing in “theater mode.”
SUGGESTION FOR VIEWING:
1. Go to the bottom right of the screen below and find “YouTube”. Click on this to view on YouTube. You can also access it on YouTube at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSoUsWMf3Lg If there is no sound, make sure the Sound icon is not on mute. (Beside the Play button).
2. Once the video starts to play on YouTube, go to the bottom right of the screen again and look for the little rectangle. When you mouse over that, the words “Theater Mode” pop up and when you click on the rectangle, the video will open in “Theater Mode.” This gives you the best size to view the video. (You can also view Full Screen if you like, but the resolution isn’t quit high enough to get a sharp image that way).
3. To get out of Theater Mode, return to the little rectangle and click on it again.
4. Enjoy!
PS – I mention a handout about the steps towards getting started with a website. That is in the works and will be posted here soon.
